This honor is awarded by the Grand Encampment to one Sir Knight from each grand jurisdiction per year.  The award is based on nomination by the Grand Commander of one who has truly demonstrated service, above and beyond the call of duty, on a state-wide level to Freemasonry in general, but Templar Freemasonry in particular.

It is the responsibility of all Sir Knights to make nominations to the Grand Commander.  The Grand Commander may accept this nomination, or, if no nomination is received, make nomination of the Sir Knight of his choice.
